Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Time of Flight Mass Spectrometer(MALDI TOF MS)

Here molecules are brought from a surface into the gas phase (desorbed) and ionized at the same time. There are other techniques to this such as:
• Plasma desorption
• Fast atom bombardment
• Secondary ion impact
MALDI is especially advantageous in a number of situations.
